Reviews From Our Customers
New Build Project -
As self-build clients, we were extremely cautious about choosing the right contractor. After meeting with several builders, we chose Bircher Build - it turned out to be the single best decision we made.
From the outset, they stood out. The quote was detailed and transparent. Jake was honest about lead times and availability, he didn't sugar coat potential challenges. That kind of realism was a breath of fresh air.
The project involved full groundworks, steel frame installation, timber cladding and high-spec interiors. They handled everything. What really impressed us was how much they owned in-house- vans, scaffold, trailer, tools. That gave them complete control over the schedule and it showed. No waiting, no hire issues, no lame excuses. Just proper, well-planned building.
Vinnie led the site team, his attention to detail was first-rate. Every day the site was clean and well organised. The team was friendly, skilled and clearly respected by Jake and Vinnie alike.
We also appreciated that they're Constructionline Gold Accredited. That's rare for a firm their size and speaks volumes about their approach to safety, reliability and financial transparency.
Our home is now finished and we've already passed their name on to three other people. Bircher Build deserve every bit of the good reputation they have.Heritage Restoration -
We own a 17th - century cottage that needed urgent structural stabilisation and sympathetic renovation. It's a Grade II listed building, so every decision had to go through conservation officers and follow traditional methods. I can say with complete certainty: Bircher Build are the best possible choice.
Their experience working as a main contractor for the National Trust gave us total reassurance. Jake understood the complexities of heritage work - lime plaster, oak frame preservation, stone repair - Jake brought in specialists when needed whilst keeping full oversight of everything.
They handled the entire liaison with our conservation officer and structural engineer. Communication was clear throughout. No pressure, no surprises, just calm, methodical progress. Vinnie and the on-site team showed an incredible level of respect for the building - taking time to protect every feature while still meeting deadlines.
Their own scaffolding saved us thousands, they even used smaller access platforms to reduce damage to the garden. The craftmanship was impeccable - lime putty joints, hand-carved replacement timbers, you name it.
We've since had comments from the planning office and local residents about how well the restoration has been handled. Bircher Build delivered a rare thing these days - skilled tradesmen who know how to work with heritage, not just around it.
Complex Structural Alterations-
We brought in Bircher Build to handle a complex internal restructure of our Victorian townhouse in Ledbury. The job involved removing multiple load-bearing walls, inserting steels, reworking drainage and fitting new joinery and bathrooms throughout.
What we wanted was a firm that could manage both the big structural side and the finer finishing details - and that's exactly what we got. Jake took charge of the planning and Building Control side of things, coordinating with our architect and engineer from day one.
The steel installation was precise and signed off without any issues. Vinnie's carpentry work was exquisite - the new staircase and fitted alcove are both beautiful and practical. They even helped us source reclaimed floorboards to match the originals.
We chose Bircher Build because of their Constructionline Gold status and the fact that they owned all of the key equipment. That meant that they had no excuses when it came time to programme or logistics and they lived up to that. Everything was finished within the agreed timeline and budget, with detailed updates all the way through.
As professionals with demanding jobs, it was a relief to work with people who were competent, communicative and accountable. We wouldn't use anyone else now.
Large Extension and Renovation -
We hired Bircher Build to carry out a full two-storey rear extension, ground floor reconfiguration and a complete internal renovation of our home just outside Leominster. From start to finish, Jake and Vinnie were exactly the type of builders we had been hoping to find - honest, reliable and completely hands on.
The first thing that stood out was their communication. Jake visited us for a detailed walk through and had a quote with clear breakdowns ready within days. He explained everything in terms we could understand - what was included, what might change and what decisions we would need to make along the way. That gave us real confidence before the first spade even hit the ground.
Work started on time and their site set up was very professional. They brought their own welfare unit, which meant the team had access to clean, safe facilities on site at all times. They supplied their own scaffolding and had it up quickly, this avoided having to wait on scaffolding hire and dealing with delays. They were also incredibly tidy and organised - we were living on site through most of the build and never once felt like we were in the middle of chaos.
One of the biggest reasons we chose Bircher Build was because of their Constructionline Gold Accreditation. That really sets them apart from other construction companies, it's a sign they take the legal, safety and financial side of the job just as serious as the building work. That mattered to us a lot as it was a six-figure project.
The build itself was completed a few days ahead of schedule. The finish? Immaculate. Every joint, every surface, every fitting - done properly. Jake made sure snags were resolved before we had even spotted them. This is a firm that genuinely takes pride in it's name. We would recommend them in a heartbeat.
